A Dazzling Affair

Tomorrow night, the Junior League of the City of New York is hosting the Fall Fête, this year's auction fundraiser. All proceeds will benefit the League's Playground Improvement Project which helps to beautify NYC's parks. There are dozens of spectacular silent and live auction items, including the "A Dazzling Affair" party package. One lucky bidder will win an evening catered by the well-established Thomas Preti Events to Savor, with live entertainment provided by singer NYC Subway Girl, and you can't forget how it all begins- invitations! I'm honored to be making 35 of one of the following designs, whichever the lovely hostess desires. On the night of the auction, the winner will take home three sample cards in the envelope pictured above.

When I sat down with my sketchbook to draw potential designs, I was inspired by the name of the package. I sought to reflect the festive and sophisticated feel evoked by "dazzling" and "affair." Metallic paper was a must and I simply couldn't pass up sequins. Invitations are instrumental in setting the tone of a celebration before it takes place; they could even make or break an R.S.V.P (gasp!) Therefore, I thought to myself, "if I received one of these invites, would I be excited to attend the party?" I answered in the affirmative and hope you would too!

4x6 flat card in black with metallic gold paper, accented with a teeny string in metallic gold

4 3/4 diameter circle card in shimmery quartz with charcoal and deep red metallic paper details. Martini glass stem drawn in colored pencil.

Which invite would you choose if you won?

Happy Fall Fête, everyone!
